Continuous Medical Education of healthcare professionals is necessary to ensure compliance and also adopting new techniques that will help improve patient care delivery. Skill training of healthcare professionals in Africa will go a long way to improve the health status of the vulnerable in the society. One of our core missions is to be a leader in this endeavor. In Sept 2017, USTA supported Mr. Mike Kankam with logistics to undertake a teaching workshop at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. Most of the training was in respiratory/ventilation services using ventilators and CPAP. There were 25 health professionals that attended this workshop: 17 medical students, 5 nurses and 3 doctors in charge of NICU units. The feedback from the workshop was heart-warming and hope to support such projects in the future to help end the cycle of poverty by minimizing avoidable deaths.
